How Bonfire Night works for taxis
On the 5th the town centre is closed to traffic from the afternoon until late, and the streets fill with processions, bands and crowds. No taxi can drive into the closed area, so we pick up and drop off at agreed points on the edge of the closures.
When you book, tell us where you are coming from or going to. We will give you a pickup point that is quick to walk to and easy for the driver to reach, and send you the details by text or WhatsApp.
Book early, and book your ride home
Every taxi in Lewes is busy on Bonfire Night, and the end of the evening is the busiest time of all. The surest way to get home is to pre-book your return at the same time as your journey in.
Pre-booked Bonfire journeys are priced when you book, so you know the fare before you travel. If you're a group, ask for one of our 6 or 8-seaters so you can travel together.
Coming in from the villages
We collect from Ringmer, Barcombe, Plumpton, Newhaven, Seaford, Uckfield and the villages around Lewes, and from Brighton and Haywards Heath. Rail services to Lewes are usually restricted on the night, so a pre-booked taxi is often the easiest way in and out. Check the official Lewes Bonfire travel advice before you set out.
Bonfire season runs through the autumn, with village bonfire celebrations across the district on other nights too. We can take you to those as well.
