Who we are

Lewes District Taxis is a local, independent taxi firm based in Lewes, East Sussex. We started in 1990, and we're still here because local people keep calling us back for early trains, family holidays from Gatwick, evenings at Glyndebourne and the trip home from Brighton.

Our drivers live locally and know the town and villages properly. They know which roads close on Bonfire Night, the back way out of Lewes when the Cuilfail Tunnel is busy, and where to wait at Glyndebourne so you're not walking across a field in your evening shoes.

Licensed, insured and accountable

Every driver and vehicle is licensed by Lewes District Council. That means DBS-checked drivers, vehicles inspected for safety, and insurance for carrying passengers. Our hackney carriages show their council plate on the back and the door.

Our fleet

We run standard four-seat cars, 6-seat people carriers and 8-seat minibuses, so we can take anyone from one passenger to a family of eight with their suitcases. See our 6 and 8-seater taxis.
